About Your UAV Pilot
Hi, and welcome to Flying Manatee Productions. Here’s a little bit about me, Rick Martinez, owner and operator of Flying Manatee Productions. I am a military and law enforcement veteran. I hold both Commercial Helicopter and Remote UAV pilot’s licenses.
I began my training in aviation with Hiser Helicopters out of the small French Valley Airport in the Inland Empire of Southern California. I completed my commercial training with Everything Flyable, Inc., out of the Long Beach International airport. Following my training, I started flying for a couple of small companies out of the Chino Airport doing mostly off-road race filming in the high desert of California for ESPN2. I also spent a short stint flying a radio traffic helicopter throughout the L.A. Basin for a major radio station.
I have logged hundreds of hours in the Robinson R-22, R-44, the Enstrom F28F and Shark models, and the Bell 206 Jet Ranger.
I started flying UAVs several years ago and quickly grew to love the ability to fly while at the same time controlling a camera. Taking stills and videos of a point of interest, an event, or a landmark, then turning that footage into a creative visual aerial story is something I really enjoy. I am constantly flying, shooting, and learning.
Drones have been integrated into our airspace, are a burgeoning technology, and are rapidly becoming a tremendous tool for many applications, including the ones I offer for you here at Flying Manatee Productions.
